Lynn Museum & Arts Center to Recognize Local Icons

Lynn, MA – The Lynn Museum & Arts Center (LMAC), a Lynn-based nonprofit, is launching its newest fundraising initiative dedicated to recognizing current members of the Lynn community who are making a positive impact.

Building on the success of the Lynn Legacies fundraising initiative (2010-2012), LMAC has developed a new and exciting opportunity to celebrate community changemakers who are making a difference. LMAC seeks nominations for individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations to be honored in the inaugural class of “Icons of Lynn.”

Potential categories include, but are not limited to: History, Public Service, Arts and Culture, Veterans, Lynn Families, Education, Youth Outreach & Advocacy, Sports, Champion of Diversity, and Entrepreneurial Spirit.

“The Museum is honoring Lynn’s current-day history makers by establishing the first annual ‘Icon’ celebration. Each recipient’s journey is leaving a footprint on Lynn’s proud future.” – Harry MacCabe, Vice President, LMAC Board of Trustees

As part of this fundraising initiative, a sliding scale fee is in place to recognize the honorees: $250-$500 for individuals and $500-$1,000 for businesses and organizations. The nomination form will close at 11:59 pm on Friday, July 25.

LMAC will honor the 2025 class of honorees on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 6:30 pm at the Museum. Honorees, sponsorship opportunities, program book ads, and event tickets will be announced later this summer.

To support this new annual fundraising initiative, LMAC has formed an “Icons of Lynn” steering committee consisting of board members, community leaders, and Lynn Legacies. Members of the steering committee include Steven Babbitt, Joanna Cacciola, Michele Campbell, Faustina Cuevas, Harry Sandra Forziati, MacCabe, Tom McGee, Chris Pedro, Pamela Scangas, Joe Scanlon, David Solimine Sr, and Sue Walker.

“The Lynn Museum & Arts Center is a dynamic organization doing great work in our city. Serving on the ‘Icons of Lynn’ steering committee has been a tremendous way to get involved and help recognize and honor incredible individuals in our community who are making a positive impact. I look forward to the inaugural event in November, which will celebrate our city’s champions while also raising crucial funds for the Museum.” – Tom McGee, Steering Committee Member

The Lynn Museum & Arts Center is a vibrant cultural campus located in the heart of Downtown Lynn, comprising the Museum (590 Washington Street, Lynn, MA 01901) and the Studios (25 Exchange Street, Lynn, MA 01901). Funds raised from the “Icons of Lynn” initiative will support LMAC’s operations and programs, which serve thousands of Lynn residents at little or no cost.

About the Lynn Museum & Arts Center:

Since 1897, the Lynn Museum & Historical Society has been the repository and custodian of Lynn’s history. With a collection that boasts nearly 10,000 objects, an extensive archive, and a priceless photography collection, the Museum chronicles Lynn’s rise from early American settlement to industrial powerhouse. Founded by a group of citizens dedicated to documenting their rapidly changing city and preserving the remnants of Lynn’s colonial heritage, the Lynn Historical Society evolved over the course of a century into the Lynn Museum.

In 2014, the Lynn Museum merged with its neighbors on Exchange Street, LynnArts, which offers studio space for artists and other rental spaces, such as the Neal Rantoul Black Box Theatre. Together, the Lynn Museum & Arts Center is engaging the region’s ever-changing community through exhibitions, innovative programs, theatre, and other arts and cultural activities that inspire active participation in exploring the city’s past while shaping a vision for its future.
