
Black History Month Celebration (Feb 16-20)
Join us from Monday, February 16, through Friday, February 20, during February school vacation week to celebrate the creativity and impact of Black artists, inventors, and leaders.
Enjoy FREE admission to the Museum all week, view our latest exhibitions, and participate in complimentary art-making activities and special programs. All are welcome!
Schedule:
Monday, February 16 (Museum Hours: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.)
11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Zahirah Nur Truth of ZNT Arts will join Lynn Museum to offer a fun interactive art-making activity, celebrating Black History Month and those who have contributed to Black Excellence. We will learn about how Black History Month came about and highlight artists, scientists, inventors, and more by creating our very own collage portraits. (First come, first served. 25-30 participants.)
Tuesday, February 17 (Museum Hours: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.)
12:30 p.m. Settle in for storytime with North Shore Juneteenth Association, Inc. accompanied by Juneteenth Flag coloring pages.
Wednesday, February 18 (Museum Hours: 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.)
We will screen the Disney animated film Princess and the Frog from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Complementary juice and popcorn will be provided.
You don’t want to miss the workshop by Afrobeats Dance Boston from 6-7 p.m.
Thursday, February 19, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.:
Time TBD North Shore Juneteenth Association, Inc. will join us again for another storytime. Thursday’s craft will be a Romare Bearden Collage Activity.
Friday, February 20, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Hear about the new exhibit Vessels of Slavery and take part in a drop-in bundling activity.
