Second Saturday featuring Tom Dalton

Join us the second Saturday of each month from 11am-3pm to view our latest exhibitions, grab a take-home art kit for the family, enjoy our outdoor spaces, and purchase one-of-a-kind Lynn merchandise in our shop.

May Feature: Tom Dalton, 1-2pm

Tom Dalton will discuss the recent discovery of a copy of a recorded deed of Frederick Douglass’ purchase of a house in Lynn, which is believed to be the first property owned by the most prominent African-American of the 19th century; and the story behind the monument soon to be erected in Frederick Douglass Park, marking the site in Central Square where Douglass was thrown off a train for refusing to sit in a segregated car.

Tom Dalton is a former Lynn Historical Society board member and retired reporter for The Daily Item of Lynn and The Salem News who won or shared more than a dozen awards from The National Association of Newspaper Columnists, New England Associated Press, New England Press Association, and others.

Thank you to Eastern Bank & Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation for sponsoring this program.
